Surroundings
Exceptional natural setting
The village lies among the hills and valleys of the Cserhát, where the Szuha and Kozárdi streams meet. Ecseg belongs to the Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark attraction zone; the immediate area offers countless hiking trails and day-trip options (e.g. the Ecseg–Cserhátszentiván nature trail, the Marian shrine, and Kápolna Spring).
Living community and Palóc charm
Tradition and the local economy go hand in hand. The active Ecseg Producers' Market supplies residents with fresh local food, while the historic wine-cellars of Boros út and the hill of the former Ilona Castle create an authentic rural atmosphere.

Although the village radiates maximum tranquillity, the refurbished Route 21 nearby makes the capital and surrounding larger towns quick and convenient to reach.

Social infrastructure development (TOP Plus)
The municipality won HUF 53 million in non-repayable funding. Under the project, the social building on Béke út (formerly the elderly day-care centre) is undergoing a full interior renovation. The electrical and water networks, flooring, and serving kitchen are being renewed for family and child welfare services and home care.
Kindergarten renovation (TOP)
With nearly HUF 67 million in support, the Ecseg Sunflower Kindergarten building was renovated and equipped, ensuring quality local childcare.
Energy-efficiency upgrades
Public buildings in the village (including the social institution now being renovated inside) have received external thermal insulation, new windows and doors, and solar systems in recent years thanks to an earlier successful grant.
Reaching nearby towns
Pásztó

I'm Szabó Rita, and this is my home listing. I bought it in 2019 with huge dreams and plans. It was love at first sight – regardless of the building being in terrible condition. It had stood empty for more than ten years, and its temporary inhabitants came in all shapes and sizes.
My partner at the time and I planned to renovate it and make use of the vast space it offers inside and out. Unfortunately, several things got in the way, and the renovation stalled after the roof and window replacements. We managed to connect three-phase electricity to the house and mains water to the front garden. The municipality laid sewage pipes in the street about 4 years ago.
The house's attributes are wonderful – it could accommodate even 3 generations if the attic of more than 40 m² is converted.
However, I must be honest: the house is merely a structural shell. It needs a complete renovation inside and out – from the electrical wiring through the plumbing and flooring, everything. The rooms on the lower level were formerly the tinsmith's workshops of the residents living there, as well as an internal coal store and a mechanical room for the then still functioning central heating system. The walls need to be completely replastered, the garage needs new concrete, and every storage room and window or door on the lower level needs replacing – except one window. After the roof structure was replaced, a crack appeared in the brick wall between the west bedroom and the living room, caused by the changed forces after the new beams and tiles were installed. A structural engineer inspected it; in his opinion, when the heavier new roof settled, it shifted, but it has been in a fixed state since then.
The house's basic structure is excellent: reinforced concrete. It doesn't sink, it doesn't crack. This house will still be standing here a hundred years from now.
I hope this wonderful building will pass into the hands of owners who can enjoy every nook and cranny – not to mention the huge garden.
